Context

Finance, designed for a household — not a spreadsheet.

Personal finance apps tend to fork along two axes: too simple to be useful, or too quantitative to be human. Econome was built on a different premise — that finance is rarely a solo problem. Spouses, partners, parents and kids share the same money even when they don't share the same app.

"Help a household see the same picture — and build healthier financial habits together."

Challenge

Shared awareness without surveillance.

Family members need to contribute daily financial data into a synchronized environment without the product turning into a tracking tool. The product had to be honest about money, gentle about behaviour, and useful in a 20-second daily moment — not a weekly audit.

Approach

Three primitives. One household.

The experience was designed around three primitives: spent, received, recurring. Every screen answers a single question. Members add data in seconds; the product aggregates it into a household view that everyone can act on.

AI-assisted code generation handled the boilerplate so the small team could spend its attention on the parts that change behaviour — copy, defaults, the daily moment.

What shipped

A live product built for habits, not novelty.

Live product across desktop and mobile, brand system, marketing site, and a sustainable solo-founder workflow that ships features in days rather than sprints. The product aims not only to track finances — but to help users build healthier financial habits, together.
